MOOC Media and Information Literacy for Young People of SEE region and Turkey

Faced with the choice between privacy and security on the Internet, between free expression and ethical use of information, media and technology – women, men and boys and girls need new kinds of competences. Media and information literacy (MIL) offers these competencies.

Registration on the platform is simple. Follow these steps:
1. Create an account on our learning platform. Even if you have taken a course with us before, you may need to open a new account. Make sure your previous username and password are working before creating a new account.
2. Wait for a confirmation in your email indicating that your account has been created. If you do not receive this, please check your spam folder.
3. Log in to the platform, then click on the button Register for a course, then click on the course MOOC Media and Information Literacy for young people from the SEE region and Turkey.
4. Once you are taken to the course, scroll down and click Content to choose which lesson to start watching first.
The order of taking the courses is not important, so you can choose to take them as you wish, but our recommendation is to do it chronologically for a better understanding of the course material itself.

NOTE: Once you create a profile on the MOOC platform, you have the option to take the course in all the languages offered. It is not necessary to make a new account.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Better understand how the new digital era, including the Internet, social media and artificial intelligence, affects the spread of information and misinformation; Identify how key elements such as human rights, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, right to privacy, etc. apply in the digital era;
- Understand the difference and dynamics between misinformation, misinformation and hate speech;
- Identify the main strategies and techniques used to spread disinformation;
- Get familiar with multi-stakeholder responses and lessons learned on how to contribute to a transparent and inclusive online ecosystem.
A little more about the course completion certificate: A free certificate is provided for this course for those who meet all the course requirements. There is no form for submitting a request for a certificate of completion. At the end of the course, we will verify all students and all activities required to qualify for a course completion certificate. After verifying that students have met the course requirements, we will send a message to your email confirming that you have met the requirements and that you are eligible for the certificate. You will receive instructions via the course platform messaging system to download a PDF copy of your certificate. The certificate is only available in PDF format. To be eligible for a Certificate of Completion, students must:

- Watch all video lesson;
- Pass the quizzes at the end of each module;
- Pass the final test.
